Men's Tennis Beats UIC, 6-1, To Open Season

CHICAGO -- The DePaul men's tennis team started off its dual season with a convincing 6-1 triumph over visiting UIC on Friday night in Chicago.
The Blue Demons improved to 1-0 while UIC fell to 0-1.
DePaul started the evening off by grabbing the doubles point, winning two out of three matches. Adam Reinhart teammed with Tim Corwin in the No. 2 match, beating Isaac Lloveras and Eric Pontow, 6-4. Paul John and Joshua Schramm sealed the doubles point in the No. 3 match with a 6-0 win over Alan Reifer and Nicolas Aguirre.
In singles play, Filip Dzanko beat Alexander Raa in the No. 1 match, 6-4, 6-4, and Kyle Johnson followed with a three-set victory (3-6, 6-4, 10-8) over Reifer. In the No. 4 match, John topped Lloveras (6-2, 6-0) while Corwin defeated Pontow, 6-3, 6-4. DePaul's sixth point came courtesy of Schramm, who thumped Aguirre, 6-1, 6-0, in the No. 6 match.
DePaul will look to start the season 2-0 when it battles Green Bay next Saturday (Jan. 25) at home at 3 p.m.
