Illinois State Invitational Next Up for DePaul Cross Country

CHICAGO -- Friday evening will mark the second meet of the year for the DePaul men's and women's cross country teams.
Both the Blue Demon men and women will compete in the Country Financial Illinois State Invitational in Normal, Ill.
Race time is scheduled for 5 p.m.
Following a week one postponement at the NIU Huskie Open in DeKalb, the Blue Demons returned to action last week (Sept. 5) at the Badger Opener in Madison, Wis. Eddie McDaniel led the DePaul charge with a 18th place finish and Alex Campanella followed in 32nd.
On the women's side, sophomore Paige Skorseth logged a time of 15:21 to finish 43rd, while senior Jackie Kasal (15:29) placed 50th.
"It was a good start to our season," head coach Dave Dopek said after the meet. "We have a lot of work to do to learn how to compete more effectively. It's time to get back to work."
The work begins again Friday night for DePaul. Following the Illinois State Invitational, the Blue Demons will take aim at the National Catholic Champinoships in South Bend, Ind. (Sept. 19) before taking a two-week break from competition.
