Cross Country Closes Season at NCAA Midwest Regionals

LAWRENCE, Kan. - The DePaul men's and women's cross country teams completed the 2015 season at the NCAA Midwest Regionals on Friday afternoon. Courtney Tedeschi and Alex Campanella recorded top team finishes for their respective teams.
The women's squad finished 29th as a team with a team point total of 783. DePaul defeated Missouri State, North Dakota and Nebraska-Omaha in the team standings.
Tedeschi finished with a time of 22:17.1 for 108th place out of 223 runners. Jessica Sanborn followed behind five seconds later in 117th at 22:22.6. Paige Skorseth was just over seven seconds from breaking the 23-minute mark with a time of 23:07.9 and placed 165th.
DePaul's top three women improved on last year's NCAA Midwest Regional places by 35 runners or more. Sanborn saw the biggest jump, besting last year's result by 66 runners.
Lauren Sharp (23:47.1) and Jessica Harris (24:03.6) solidified the women's top-five. Sharp earned 199th, while Harris came in at 206th.
The men placed 25th in the 10K regional race, defeating BIG EAST foe Creighton. DePaul finished with a team score of 643 and improved on last year's results by over 100 points.
Campanella tallied his first top-team finish of the year by taking 95th with a time of 32:00.8. Teammate Chris Korabik was just seconds behind in 98th at 32:04.1. Freshman Daniel Peterson crossed the finish line with a time of 33:27.5, good for 155th.
Jake Pecorin was the fourth Blue Demon across the line in 167th at 33:53.9, while Jeremy Lozano grabbed 169th with a time of 33:58.4.
Each of the DePaul men who ran in last's year regional saw improvements in their 2015 ranks. Korabik beat last year's mark of 185th to hold the biggest improvement for the Blue Demons.
