GREEN BAY, Wis. -- The DePaul men's tennis team was dealt a 5-2 loss on Sunday morning at Green Bay, forcing the team to settle for a 1-1 weekend record just two days after upsetting No. 51 Purdue in Chicago.
DePaul's overall record now stands at 6-3, while Green Bay improves to 7-3 with the victory.
The day started out well for the Blue Demons, who opened up the match with a 1-0 advantage after taking all three doubles contests. David Vieyra and Jan-Willem Feilzer won their match at No. 1 doubles, 6-4, over Michael Tenzer and Howard Scott, and Kyle Johnson and Sten Leusink knocked off Florian Kraenzler and Marius Merz in the No. 2 slot, 6-3. Alex Galoustian and Nathan de Veer topped Michael Tebon and Joey Leto at No. 3 doubles, 6-4.
But the Blue Demons struggled in singles play today, losing 5-of-6 matches to the Phoenix. DePaul's lone win in the singles matches was recorded by Galoustian, who won his No. 4 contest over Kraenzler, 7-5, 7-6 (4).
Galoustian is now a perfect 9-0 this spring.
DePaul is off until Feb. 27 when it faces BIG EAST rival Georgetown in Washington, D.C.
