Minneapolis- The Gophers got the best of the DePaul men's tennis team in Minneapolis this afternoon, defeating the Blue Demons 7-0.
DePaul returns to Chicago with a 1-1 record after defeating South Dakota St. the day before 5-2.
Doubles action went underway before singles, with the No. 3 and 2 pairs competing first. Justin Levin and Josip Krstanovic defeated Jan-Willem Feilzer and Paul John 6-1, while Ruden Weber and Marino Alpeza defeated Alex Galoustian and Conor O'Meara 6-1. The match at No. 1 doubles between Kyle Johnson, Sten Luesink and Ruden Weber and Marino Alpeza went unfinished.
In singles play, Galoustian fell 6-3, 0-6, 6-1 to Spec at No. 1, Leusink lost to Corwin 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2, Johnson fell to Weber 6-1, 3-6, 7-5 at No. 3, Nathan de Veer dropped his match at No. 4 6-0, 7-6 (7) to Krstanovis, Levin defeated John 6-5, 6-0 at No. 5, while Ivan Divkovic fell 6-0, 6-1 to Alpeza.
The Blue Demons return to the courts for its first home competition on Friday, Jan. 22 at 7:15 p.m. at Lakeshore Sport & Fitness.
