CHICAGO - Fresh off a career-high 30 points and 10 3-pointers against Georgetown, DePaul senior guard Chanise Jenkins has been named to the Mid-Season Naismith Team.
Jenkins leads DePaul's potent offensive attack with 15.4 points per game and has reached double figures in 23 of DePaul's 26 games. The senior also paces the Blue Demons in 3-pointers (58) and is second in assists (134) and steals (48). Her 134 assists this season ranks 20th in Division I while the Chicago native has recorded seven or more assists in 10 contests.
A master of taking care of the ball, Jenkins boasts a 2.20 assist-to-turnover margin which ranks 29th in DI and has recorded one or less turnovers in nine games this season.
Nicknamed the "general", Jenkins is a co-captain of the No. 23/23 Blue Demon squad and was also a captain on the gold-medal winning USA World University Games team in the Summer of 2015.
Jenkins is the reigning BIG EAST Player of the Week and a candidate for the Senior CLASS Award.
Cut down from an initial list of 50 Preseason players to Watch, Jenkins is one of three BIG EAST Players on the Mid-Season Naismith Team.
DePaul returns to action this weekend and host Xavier and Butler. The Blue Demons Friday game with the Musketeers has been tabbed DePaul's Play4Kay game and all those in attendance are encouraged to wear pink. DePaul and Xavier tip a 7 p.m. at McGrath-Phillips Arena.
