Men's Tennis Defeats The Citadel

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The DePaul men's tennis team won its first match of three this week against The Citadel 5-2 on the courts of the Earle Tennis Center in Charleston, South Carolina.
DePaul's (5-11) victory over The Citadel (8-19) marks its second in a row after defeating Eastern Illinois on Mar. 12.
Kyle Johnson and Jan-Willem Feilzer led the Blue Demons with victories in singles and doubles play.
Johnson partnered with Sten Leusink at No. 2 doubles to defeat Michael Anzalone and Nicholas Bradley 6-2. Johnson then went on to beat Matthew Henson 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 at No. 3 singles.
Feilzer joined Alex Galoustian at No. 3 doubles to defeat Connor Grady and Jackson Pride 6-4. Feilzer then bested Jackson Pride at No. 4 singles 4-6, 6-2, 7-5.
In the rest of doubles action, Conor O'Meara and Paul John fell 6-4 at No. 1 to Henson and Artemie Amari.
John and O'Meara rebounded with singles victories. John won at No. 5 against Anzalone 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 while O'Meara defeated Roy Hobson at No. 6 6-7 (6-8), 7-5, 6-2.
Leusink dropped his match at No. 1 to Bradley 6-4, 7-5, while Galoustian fell 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) at No. 2 to Amari.
DePaul returns to the courts on Wednesday, Mar. 23 to take on the College Charleston at 3 p.m. CT.
