No. 63 Women's Tennis Defeats Marquette 5-2 on Senior Day

CHICAGO - The No. 63 DePaul women's tennis team ended its regular season of competition on a high note with a 5-2 victory over Marquette Friday evening on the courts of Lakeshore Sport & Fitness.
DePaul (12-7, 6-0 BIG EAST) finished its regular season undefeated at home and in BIG EAST play.
The Blue Demons' seniors took center stage against the Golden Eagles for their Senior Day.
Zaina Sufi and Jarrett Fisher won both their singles and doubles matches as Rebeca Mitrea rallied in singles action for a win.
Sufi and Fisher teamed together to win their seventh overall doubles match for the season. Sufi and Fisher defeated Aleeza Kanner and Leoni Daems 6-4 at No. 3 doubles.
DePaul's other doubles duo fell in their respective matches. No. 54 Yuliya Shupenia and Mitrea dropped 6-4 at No. 1 to Silvia Ambrosio and Erin Gebes. Diana Tokar and Paula Tormos Sanchez defeated Marina Cozac and Patricia Lancranjan 6-2 at No. 2.
The Blue Demons rallied in singles action to secure the match victory. Fisher won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6 over Daems. Sufi followed with a 6-3, 7-6 victory at No. 5 over Kanner. Lancranjan bested Gebes 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2. Cozac defeated Tokar 6-3, 7-6 and Mitrea won at No. 4 against Tormos Sanchez 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
No. 77 Shupenia fell to Ambrosio 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1.
Next week, DePaul heads to the BIG EAST Conference Tournament Apr. 29-May 1 in Cayce, S.C. All match times and opponents have yet to be announced.
