
Men's Tennis Defeats Butler 4-1

CAYCE, S.C. - The DePaul men's tennis team defeated Butler 4-1 in the quarterfinals of the BIG EAST Conference Tournament Friday evening at Cayce Tennis & Fitness Center.
The number three-seed Blue Demons (10-4) etched an early point in doubles action by claiming the first two rounds over the sixth-seeded Bulldogs. Alex Galoustian and Jan-Willem Feilzer notched a 6-2 win at No. 2 over Alex Woldmoe and Ari Gerstein. Sten Leusink and Nathan de Veer followed with a 6-4 win at No. 1 over Mason Dragos and Mikhail Khmiadashvil.
In singles, de Veer claimed DePaul's second point with a 7-6, 6-1 win at No. 4 over Spencer Land. Leusink followed with a 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 victory over Dragos at No. 1. Adrian Mag defeated Paul John at No. 5 6-3, 6-2, but Tim Corwin clinched match point with a 7-6, 6-4 victory over Woldmoe at No. 6.
With the victory, DePaul moves on to the semifinal round of the BIG EAST Tournament Saturday, Apr. 30. The Blue Demons face No. 2 Marquette at 11:30 a.m. CT.
