DePaul Men's Tennis Defeats Xavier 4-3

CHICAGO - The DePaul men's tennis clinched its second BIG EAST Conference victory of the season with a 4-3 decision over Xavier Friday night on the courts of the Lakeshore Sport & Fitness Center.
DePaul (6-13, 2-0 BIG EAST) remains undefeated in BIG EAST play and improves 5-2 on its home court with the win over the Musketeers (9-8, 2-3 BIG EAST).
The Blue Demons started off strong by winning two of the three doubles rounds to take the point. Sten Leusink and Nathan de Veer defeated Jeremy Schneider and Arthur Stefani 6-4 at No. 2. Alex Galoustian and Jan-Willem Feilzer followed with another DePaul win at No. 3 with a 6-3 decision over Jack Dykema and Brian Carman.
Paul John and Conor O'Meara fell 6-4 at No. 1 to Zach Mueck and Matt Bishop.
In singles action, DePaul won three of the six rounds. Leusink defeated Mueck 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1, de Veer bested Gabriel Chaves Araujo 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5 and John took down Dykema at No. 6 6-2, 7-6 (3).
Kyle Johnson fell at No. 2 to Schneider 7-6 (6), 7-4 (4). Galoustian dropped his match at No. 3 to Bishop 6-2, 6-2, while Feilzer fell at No. 4 to Stefani 6-3, 6-4.
Up next, DePaul prepares for a doubleheader weekend of BIG EAST action at home. The Blue Demons welcome Creighton on Saturday, April 16 at 2:15 p.m. and Butler on Sunday, April 17 at 2:15 p.m. CT.
