
Men's Tennis Blank Creighton in BIG EAST Quarterfinals

CAYCE, S.C. - The top ranked DePaul men's tennis team swept No. 8 Creighton 4-0 in the quarterfinal round of the BIG EAST Men's Tennis Championship on Friday morning at the Cayce Tennis & Fitness Center.
The Blue Demons grabbed the doubles point with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots. Christopher Casati and Fran Tonejc notched a 6-1 victory over Daniel Lopez-Rey and Alex Koca. Tim Corwin and Boris Spanjaard followed with a 7-5 decision against Armando Gandini and Aaron Chalstrom at No. 2.
Alex Galoustian and Nathan de Veer added wins on the singles front for the whole DePaul lineup to contribute to the victory.
Galoustian tallied the second point with a 6-3, 6-3 mark over Brooks Kendall at No. 3.
de Veer defeated Armando Gandini 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1.
Tonejc carried his doubles energy over to singles play, notching a 6-2, 6-4 win over Jake Glazer at No. 6 for the final point.
DePaul (16-9) advances to the semifinals and will play No. 4 Xavier or No. 5 Marquette on Saturday, April 29 at 8 a.m. CT.
