MADISON, Wis. - After opening the spring season with an upset of a talented Big Ten opponent, DePaul couldn't duplicate that success against another formidable Big Ten team.
The Blue Demons fell 6-1 to a Wisconsin team that finished No. 28 in the ITA national poll last season and advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament.
The bright spot for coach Matt Brothers' team was Christopher Casati's hard-fought 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (6-2) victory over Osgar O'Hoisin at No. 4 singles.
At No. 5 singles, Tamas Zador hung tight against Daniel Soyfer before succumbing 7-6 (6-2), 7-6 (8-6).
DePaul's No. 1 doubles team of Christopher Casati and Conor O'Meara won't encounter many opponents this season like Chem Carranza and Josef Dodridge in a 6-1 loss. The Badgers duo advanced to the ITA National Championship Semifinals last fall.
The Blue Demons will look for a split on this trip up north with an 11:30 a.m. match Sunday at Green Bay.
