
Men's Tennis Drops H-E-B Opener in Texas

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Men's tennis got off to a good start Friday morning at the H-E-B Tournament of Champions but couldn't maintain the early momentum.
After capturing the doubles point, the Blue Demons came up short in a 4-2 loss to New Mexico State at the Thomas J. Henry Center on the campus of Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
After dropping the doubles opener, Alex Galoustian and Boris Spanjaard teamed up for a 6-3 decision over the Aggies No. 1 doubles team to even the score.
Tripp Tuff and Conor O'Meara, DePaul's most successful tandem in the dual-match season, came through with a 6-4 win over New Mexico State No. 3 double team to put the Blue Demons on the board.
Tuff and O'Meara are now 7-1 in the dual season and 10-1 overall.
Coach Matt Brothers' band did not fare as well in singles, dropping four matches. At No. 2 singles, Spanjaard scored a point with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Stijn de Haan.
The Blue Demons take on Louisiana (11-7) at 5 p.m. in the consolation bracket. The Ragin' Cajuns lost 4-2 to UT San Antonio in their H-E-B opener.
