Golf Wins Final Match at Yestingsmeier

DADE CITY, Fla. – DePaul finished the Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play with an impressive 4.5-1.5 win over Ohio on Tuesday morning. Campbell Wolf, Charlie Spencer-White, Bobby Thomas and Grant Boyson all posted victories as the Blue Demons finished the event with a 2-1 record.

Spencer-White and Boyson both posted 5&4 victories in their matches while Wolf won his match, 3&2. Thomas posted a win by a score of 2&1 and Joe McCarthy played even and finished at all square. After winning his first two matches on Monday, Carlo Antonio Gatmaytan nearly pulled off a trifecta, but fell 2&1 in his third match.

Miami (Ohio) posted a 5-1 score over Bowling Green to win the championship match while Ball State defeated Eastern Michigan, 4-2, for third place. DePaul was fifth and in the seventh-place match, Drake defeated Loyola-Chicago, 3.5-2.5.

The Blue Demons return to action Feb. 23-25 when they travel to Goodyear, Ariz. for the Loyola (Md.) Intercollegiate. The three-round, three-day event takes place at Palm Valley Golf Club.
