Senior matches career-best round at DePaul on Monday

GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Charlie Spencer-White fired a 70 (-2) on Monday in the final round of the Loyola (Md.) Intercollegiate as DePaul jumped up a spot to finish in 13th place. Joe McCarthy and Grant Boyson each finished one-over par with scores of 73 in their final rounds.

Spencer-White posted his best round of the season and matched his career best at DePaul with a 70 (-2) to finish in a tie for 38th place. The final round followed scores of 76 and 75 for a tournament score of 221 (+5).

McCarthy finished in a group in 57th place following his 73 (+1) on Monday. The sophomore posted rounds of 80 and 70 for a 54-hole total of 223 (+7). Campbell Wolf was a shot behind McCarthy in the final standings after his 74 (+2) in the third round followed a 73 and 77 for a total of 224 (+8).

Carlo Antonio Gatmaytan and Grant Boyson rounded out team play for the Blue Demons while Perry Chong finished as an individual. Gatmaytan carded a 77 (+5) in the third round to finish at 227 (+11) while Boyson finished with a 73 (+1) and 229 (+13) overall score. Chong posted a 75 (+3) in the third round and was also at 229 (+13) for the tournament.

UAB won the team title with a score of 846 (-18) ahead of second-place Elon at 859 (-5). DePaul was 13th at 888 (+24) after posting the best score of the tournament on Monday with a team total of 290. Loyola's Evan Brown won individual honors by a stroke with a score of 208 (-8).

DePaul is off until March 25-26 when the Blue Demons play at the North Alabama Spring Classic in Fort City, Ala.
