Forward Kiara Dallmann was fifth in the nation in shooting percentage last season
CHICAGO – The good news just keeps on coming for the DePaul women's basketball program after landing junior college All-American Kiara Dallmann.
That came less than a week after the signing of talented Michigan sophomore starting guard Deja Church who helped lead the Wolverines to the NCAA Second Round.
Dallmann is a stellar 6-foot, 2-inch forward from Sheboygan, Wis. who led Iowa Western Community College to the NJCAA Region XI championship and within one game of the national junior college tournament.
In the Region XI title game, Dallmann came through with 14 points and 10 rebounds against Northeast Community College. The sophomore had 17 points and 13 rebounds in a loss to Three Rivers Community College that denied the Reivers a berth in the national tournament.
Averaging nearly 14 points a game with 7.5 rebounds, Dallmann earned a reputation as one of the deadliest shooters in junior college. She converted on 61.2 percent of her field goals which was fifth-best in NJCAA Division I.
As a freshman at Iowa Western, Dallmann set a program record shooting nearly 71 percent from the field which led the country in NJCAA Division I.
The 2019 All-American was also named ICCACC Division I Player of the Year and finished her junior college career scoring in double figures 11 games in a row. She wound up with 19 blocked shots and 15 steals last season.
Dallmann is expected to merge seamlessly with a Blue Demon team that will be led next season by All-BIG EAST Second Team forward Chante Stonewall and standout point guard Kelly Campbell. Dee Bekelja also returns along with a freshman class that saw a lot of minutes led by BIG EAST All-Freshman Team selection Lexi Held.
Dallmann's ability to impact a game in the post along with her perimeter shooting prowess and rebounding strength will be a valuable asset to a Blue Demon program that won its fourth BIG EAST Tournament title in the last six years and finished the season ranked No. 24 by the Associated Press, No. 25 in the coaches poll and No. 18 in the final NCAA RPI.
She will enhance a front court led by Stonewall that also includes 6-2 Dege Jean and 6-0 incoming freshmen Keimari "Keke" Rimmer, Kayla Caudle and Hannah Purcell.
"We are very excited about such a talented player like Kiara Dallmann saying yes to DePaul," said Blue Demon coach Doug Bruno. "Kiara fits a specific need and will add so much to our program with her inside-out versatility.
"With the graduation of Honorable Mention All-American Mart'e Grays, Kiara will make an immediate impact on next year's front line."
