City of Chicago announced new mitigation requirements that go into effect on Jan. 3, 2022
CHICAGO – DePaul Athletics announced today new health and safety COVID-19 requirements for fans attending games at Wintrust Arena. These new requirements align with the City of Chicago's new mitigation requirements.
In accordance with the City of Chicago's new mitigation requirements, announced on Dec. 21, fans age five and older must provide physical or digital proof of COVID-19 vaccination at the entrance to Wintrust Arena. These new city requirements will go into effect Jan. 3, 2022. DePaul's first game after the effective date will be the men's basketball game against Villanova on Saturday, Jan. 8 at 1 p.m.
Patrons age five and older must show proof of full vaccination (as defined by the CDC), while patrons age 16 and over will also need to provide identification that matches their vaccination record. Proof of vaccination is defined by the City of Chicago as a CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card or an official immunization record from the jurisdiction, state, or country where the vaccine was administered or a digital or physical photo of such a card or record, reflecting the person's name, vaccine brand, and date administered.
Fans should not attend DePaul Athletics events if they are experiencing any signs or symptoms of COVID-19 or feeling unwell.
The number one priority of DePaul Athletics has always been, and continues to be, the health and safety of its student-athletes, arena guests, and staff. Accordingly, DePaul Athletics will actively update and implement COVID-19 mitigation protocols in accordance with federal, state, and local government guidelines. DePaul Athletics and Wintrust Arena are implementing the following health and safety measures this season:
Individuals who have previously received a medical or religious exemption (e.g. from an employer) are exempt, provided these patrons show proof of the medical or religious exemption upon entry along with a negative COVID-19 test, administered by a medical professional, within the last 72 hours.
Please note, DePaul Athletics has taken enhanced health and safety measures to ensure a safe return to competition. Fans must follow all posted instructions while visiting Wintrust Arena. An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. By attending a DePaul Athletics event, you assume all risks related to exposure of COVID-19.
