Tuff and Minsaas Lead the Way

Combine to go 4-for-4 in singles Saturday at Notre Dame Invitational
NOTRE DAME, IND. – Tripp Tuff and Lars Peder Minsaas led the way for DePaul Saturday in day two of the Notre Dame Invitational.
Tuff won both of his singles matches against quality opponents from Michigan State while Minsaas also went 2-0.
Tuff began the day with a 6-4, 6-0 decision over the Spartans' Luke Baylis and followed up taking down Bayliss' teammate Josh Portnoy 7-6(5), 2-6, 1-0(4).
The graduate student from Watermill, N.Y. has the winning touch so far at the Eck Tennis Pavilion with three singles victories one in doubles.
Minsaas started Saturday by prevailing over Ferdinand Schlueter of Western Michigan 1-6, 7-5, 1-0(4). Later in the afternoon, he knocked off Marquette's Jan Jauch in straight sets by identical 6-4 scores.
BIG EAST Player of the Year and ITA Preseason Top 125 Vito Tonejc outplayed Notre Dame's Yu Zhang 6-1, 6-4 before falling to Northwestern's Presley Thienemen 6-4, 6-3.
Other high points from the double round of singles were Marino Jakic knocking off Nic Meister of Illinois 6-1, 6-3; Leon Huck defeating Michigan's Ryan Fu 6-7, 6-3, 1-0(7) and Matteo Iaquinto outscoring Marquette's Will Tennison 6-3, 6-4.
Heading into Sunday's final round of singles and doubles, Tuff is a combined 4-0 while Iaquinto is a combined 3-1.
In singles, Tonejc, Minsaas, Jakic, Sven Moser and Iaquinto are all 2-1 at the tournament.
