Women's Tennis Heads to Eagles Invitational

Blue Demons part of 10-team field at Eastern Michigan tournament
CHICAGO – Fresh off last week's triumphant performance at the ITA Midwest Regional, the dynamic DePaul doubles team of Lenka Antonijevic and Yuliya Kizelbasheva lead the Blue Demons into this weekend's Eagles Invitational.
The 10-team tournament hosted by Eastern Michigan in Ypsilanti will be their first tune-up in preparation for the ITA Super Regional Oct. 22-25 in Columbus, Ohio.
The final prep is a trip to the Pacific Northwest for the Husky Invitational Oct. 8-10 hosted by Washington.
Advancing onto the ITA Midwest Regional quarterfinals qualified the Blue Demon tandem for the Super Regional. Antonijevic and Kizelbasheva have started out the 2021-22 season winning four of their first five doubles matches.
Also bolting from the starting gate is graduate student Marija Jovicic who has racked up a 4-1 singles record in the first two weeks. Jovicic has teamed with Maddie Yergler to go 3-2 in doubles.
Valentina Martin and freshman Eleanor Nobbs have identical 2-1 marks in singles while Yergler is 2-2.
The Eagles Invitational field features host school Eastern Michigan along with coach Marisa Arce's Blue Demons, Western Michigan, Illinois State, Ball State, Cleveland State, Oakland, Findlay, Wayne State and Northwood. Matches will be played at the Chippewa Club courts.
