Sophomore forward lands on six-member preseason national team
CHICAGO – DePaul sophomore forward Aneesah Morrow was named a Preseason All-American by the Associated Press, the publication announced on Tuesday.
Morrow had a record-shattering rookie campaign in 2021-22, earning WBCA and USBWA National Freshman of the Year honors while hauling in AP Second-Team All-America recognition. A finalist for the Wooden and Naismith Player of the Year trophies a season ago, Morrow broke 13 BIG EAST standards while leading the nation in rebounds with 13.8 per game.
The Chicago native registered 27 double-doubles, good for second nationally, while averaging a team-best 21.9 points per game and setting the DePaul single-season benchmark for rebounds with 457.
Earlier this fall, Morrow was named a unanimous preseason All-BIG EAST selection and landed on the Katrina McClain Award Watch List which honors the nation's best power forward.
Morrow is DePaul's first AP Preseason All-American since Latasha Byears was recognized prior to the 1995-96 season.
The six-player team also includes Aliyah Boston (South Carolina), Caitlin Clark (Iowa), Haley Jones (Stanford), Ashley Joens (Iowa State), and Elizabeth Kitley (Virginia Tech).
DePaul will travel to Austin, Texas on Sunday, Oct. 30 to face the No. 3 Longhorns in a charity exhibition matchup benefitting the Robb Elementary community in Uvalde before opening the regular season on Wed. Nov. 9 vs. American at Wintrust Arena.
