Blue Demons Drop Opening Match to Toledo

DADE CITY, Fla. – The DePaul golf team came up on the short end of a 5-1-0 loss in the first match of the Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play. The match was the first event of the spring season for the Blue Demons as DePaul took on Loyola Chicago in the afternoon session.

Aarjav Patel was the lone individual winner as he posted a 2&1 win over Toledo's David Amm. The Rockets claimed a team point in the other five matches as Noah Kolar and Artemiy Yalovenko dropped 4&3 decisions while Alex Vekich and Grant Boyson were on the short side of a 4&2 result. Conor Glennon just missed a point as he fell by a score of 1UP in his match.

The Blue Demons second match against Loyola was suspended due to darkness and will be completed Tuesday morning. The Ramblers lost in a tiebreaker after playing Drake to a 2-2-2 tie in their morning match. DePaul will face either Xavier or Ball State in the third and final match.
