Women’s Basketball Signs Six for 2024

Six future Blue Demons signed their National Letter of Intent on Thursday
CHICAGO – DePaul women's basketball head coach Doug Bruno and his staff announced the signing of six incoming freshmen on Thursday, November 9 on the second day of the fall signing period. Emory Klatt, Ellery Minch, Natiah Nelson, Angelina Smith, Ally Timm and Alayna West have signed national letters of intent (NLI) and will join the Blue Demons prior to the 2024-25 campaign.
"With all the attention being paid to the transfer portal, our recruiting philosophy will always equally include quality high school recruits. Our November class features six strong, incoming freshmen, whose game all complement each other" said Bruno.
"Alayna West and Angelina Smith are both explosive, versatile guards who can get to the rim and shoot. Ellery Minch and Ally Timm are both premium shooters with good backcourt length and size. Emory Klatt and Natiah Nelson are both excellent rebounders and scorers with combo guard/forward skillsets."
"We expect all six of these incoming freshmen to make an immediate impact on our program and balance the 'new age' transfer portal with quality frosh recruits."
Emory Klatt | Stevenson High School | 6'2" | Forward | Kildeer, Ill.
Klatt is a 6-2 forward and a two-time All-State selection out of Stevenson High School. The Kildeer, Ill. native is the top ranked power forward in the state in the class of 2024 according to Prep Girls Hoops IL and has collected NSC All-Conference honors in each season of her high school career. Klatt has amassed 1,240 points and 957 rebounds in three seasons while recording 52 double-doubles. In her junior campaign, she averaged 19.2 points and 12 rebounds per game.
Ellery Minch | Mount Vernon High School | 6'3" | Forward | McCordsville, Ind.
Minch lands in Chicago from McCordsville, Ind. The 6-3 forward has led Mount Vernon High School to three-consecutive sectional championships. Her junior year she was named to the Indiana Junior All-Star team after being selected Hancock County Player of the Year and earning All-Conference First Team honors. Minch has landed on the preseason Central Indiana super team in 2022 and 2023 in addition to her inclusion on the IBCA Supreme 15. Minch averaged 16.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.2 blocks per game last season.
Natiah Nelson | Africentric Early College High School | 5'10" | Guard | Perrysburg, Ohio
Nelson joins the Blue Demons after winning a state championship in her junior season with Africentric Early College. The 5-10 guard had 17 points in the championship game to lead the Nubians to their eighth title in school history. Nelson was named First Team All-City, All-District and All-State after her junior season, carrying averages of 15 points, eight rebounds and three assists per game. The Perrysburg, Ohio native spent her first two high school seasons at Rogers High School where she earned All-City honors as a freshman and sophomore while being named All-District in 2022.
Angelina Smith | Bolingbrook High School | 5'9" | Guard | Bolingbrook, Ill.
Smith signed to stay close to home after spending her high school career at Bolingbrook. The 5-9 guard was an All-State selection as a junior after averaging 15 points, four rebounds and four assists. Smith led the Raiders to a 27-4 record in 2023 an appearance in the Super Sectionals. She scored a game-high 25 points in Bolingbrook's sectional victory. Smith has captained the Raiders program for the past two seasons while also being named the team's most valuable player as a sophomore and junior.
Ally Timm | Divine Savior Holy Angels | 5'11" | Guard | Menomonee Falls, Wis.
Timm signs with DePaul out of Divine Savior Holy Angels (DSHA) in Milwaukee. The 5-11 shooting guard has led her team to three-straight Sweet 16 appearances in the Wisconsin state tournament while netting over 1,000 career points in her three seasons. The Menomonee Falls native holds the school record for three-point field goals in a single season after averaging 16.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.7 steals in her junior campaign. Timm, a team captain for three seasons, was named WBCA Second Team All-State in 2023 while also earning academic honors. She has also earned First Team all-conference honors in her sophomore and junior seasons.
Alayna West | Madison La Follette | 5'9" | Guard | Madison, Wis.
West joins the Blue Demons out of Madison La Follette High School. The 5-9 guard averaged 28.3 points per game in her junior season to rank second in the state of Wisconsin while grabbing 15.6 rebounds to rank fourth among all players. West set five school records in her junior campaign including single game standard for points (48), rebound (33) and steals (22). She was named First Team All-Conference in 2023 and was selected the 365 Leadership Community Choice Awards High School Athlete of the Year.
DePaul began the 2023-24 season with a 77-53 win over Western Michigan on Monday, Nov. 6. The Blue Demons return to action on Thursday night when Stonehill visits Wintrust Arena for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
