DePaul Captures Win Against Illinois State

WILMINGTON, N.C. – DePaul men's tennis claimed a 3-4 victory against Illinois State on Sunday afternoon. Aleksa Krivokapic clinched the win by defeating his singles opponent in a come from behind three set victory.

"We played some solid tennis against a very good ISU team," said head coach Matt Brothers. "Got off to a good start with the doubles point and had to really dig in to get it done in the singles. Proud of how our guys committed today, a well deserved win."

The Blue Demons (8-10) started the day off with some wins on the doubles courts. Sven Moser and Shourya Verma won the first match of the competition 6-2. Krivokapic and Jona Gitschel took on ISU's Ostro and Gonzalez on the No. 2 court, but dropped their match 3-6. Tied, Leon Huck and Pablo Torres Almieda conquered their opponents in a 7-6 (10-4) tiebreaker to capture the doubles point.

ISU responded with two wins on the singles courts after Huck fell 3-6, 3-6 and Verma lost 3-6, 2-6 respectively. Almeida found the equalizer with a 6-4. 7-5 win at the No. 5 singles spot. Matteo Iaquinto followed suit with another win to bring the Blue Demons back in the lead. ISU came back with another victory after Moser dropped his match 4-6, 5-7. Tied yet again, Krivokapic stepped up with the final win of the day, conquering his opponent 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 to clinch the match.
