The Blue Demons Fall to the Golden Eagles
MILWAUKEE, Wis. – DePaul men's tennis was held off by Marquette in a close 3-4 battle on Friday night. After Marquette captured the doubles point, the Golden Eagles continued their winning streak on the singles side. DePaul responded with two points, but ultimately the Blue Demons could not catch up with Marquette before they secured the fourth and final point of the competition.Â

The Blue Demons opened the competition with some hard-fought matches on the doubles courts. Duo Jona Gitschel and Matteo Iaquinto fell to their opponents 6-2, but Leon Huck and Pablo Torres Almeida teamed up and responded with an 8-6 victory. Tied, Shourya Verma and Sven Moser took on Marquette's Tin Krstulovic and Blake Roegner but the duo lost 11-9.Â
ÂOn the singles courts, Marquette extended their lead. Iaquinto and Gitschel were defeated by their opponents at the No. 3 and No. 5 singles spots.With the Golden Eagles up 3-0, Moser found a victory on the No. 4 singles court to get the Blue Demons up on the board.Â
ÂHuck followed suit, conquering Marquette's Stefan Dragovic 6-1, 5-7, 6-4. However, Marquette ultimately won the competition after they took the fourth point on the No. 5 singles court.Â

ÂThe Blue Demons travel to Wilmington, N.C. for a match-filled weekend. DePaul will face off against Youngstown State, Illinois State and UNCW respectively starting on Saturday, Mar. 18.Â
