
Blue Demons Finish Eighth at BIG EAST Championship

HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – The DePaul golf team concluded its season with an eighth-place finish, Sunday, at the BIG EAST Men's Golf Championship. DePaul moved up one place Sunday after sitting in ninth entering the day. The Blue Demons eighth-place finish is one spot improved from the 2021 Championship.
As a team, DePaul scored 891 (+27) for their third-best team score of the 2022-23 season and best overall score at a BIG EAST Championship since 2013 where the Blue Demons scored 883 (+19). Saturday's team score of 289 was the team's best round in a BIG EAST Championship since 2014.
Noah Kolar had the best individual finish for DePaul scoring a 219, his second-best score of the season. Kolar's ninth place finish is the best for a Blue Demon since 2019. He ended the Championship with a total of 15 birdies across the three-day event, the most for any golfer at the Championship.
Cameron Karney had a stellar final round, scoring a 71 (-1) to move up 19 spots from Saturday's second round. Karney's day was highlighted by an eagle on hole seven and tied his season-best round of 18 this season. Conor Glennon rounded out the top-25 finishes for DePaul with a 224 (+8) across the championship. Artemiy Yalovenko rounded out the finishes for DePaul, tying for 34th. Alex Vekich golfed in Sunday's third round, in place of Billy Gnesier who played the first two rounds.
Overall, Marquette claimed their fifth team title with a three-stroke advantage over second-place St. John's. The Red Storm's Jack Simon won a playoff to win the individual title, and an individual big to the NCAA Tournament.
