CHICAGO – DePaul University Executive Associate Athletics Director Taylor Stapleton has been named to the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Tennis Committee. His term of service began Sept. 1, 2024, and includes a four-year term. The twelve-person committee develops policies and procedures governing the administration and conduct of the NCAA Tennis Championships, including selecting host institutions, establishing brackets, and evaluating and selecting teams to participate based on approved selection criteria.
"I am honored and excited to join the NCAA Division I Tennis Committee," said Stapleton. "This is an incredible opportunity to contribute to the sport I love and work alongside a dedicated group of professionals who are committed to improving collegiate tennis. I look forward to working together to support our student-athletes and to advance the game."
Stapleton's appointment reflects his longstanding commitment to advancing the sport at DePaul, within Chicago, and in the BIG EAST Conference. Stapleton has served as the sports administrator for DePaul's men's tennis program since 2020 and women's tennis program since 2022. In the fall of 2021, he was named to the BIG EAST Conference's Men's and Women's Tennis Committee.
"I'm absolutely thrilled for Taylor to represent DePaul and serve on this committee," said Head Women's Tennis Coach Marisa Arce. "Taylor has such a dedication to our teams and student-athletes here at DePaul and I look forward to the rest of the NCAA and tennis community having an opportunity to see that level of commitment."
In 2021, he championed the Blue Demon tennis program's partnership with XS Tennis—a state-of-the-art tennis facility founded by Kamau Murray—to reaffirm DePaul's commitment to the South Side of Chicago and enhance the program's competitive excellence. In May 2024, Stapleton partnered with JMI Sports to ink an innovative partnership with Wilson and Luxilon to sponsor DePaul's men's and women's tennis programs. The sponsorship marked Wilson's first-ever collegiate tennis team sponsorship.
"Taylor is such an advocate for our sport and student-athletes," said Head Men's Tennis Coach Matt Brothers. "He's been an integral part in our success over the last several years and is always striving to push our program to the next level. His care for student-athletes and coaches is unparallelled and I could not think of anyone better to serve on the committee."
DePaul's men's tennis program is coming off its third BIG EAST Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance in four years, while the women's program has advanced to the BIG EAST title match in three of the last four seasons. Both tennis programs have also excelled off the court with outstanding team GPAs, led by the women's program who posted the highest team GPA in the BIG EAST last year with a 3.896. Both men's and women's teams have won the BIG EAST Sport Excellence Award, which honors the program in each sport with the highest GPA, the last two years.
