Goncharov and Smith Collect Fourth BIG EAST Doubles Team of the Week Honor

Blue Demons top conference in weekly awards
CHICAGO – DePaul women's tennis duo Eva Goncharov and Hannah Smith earned their fourth BIG EAST Doubles Team of the Week award following dominant victories at home against Marquette and Butler, the conference announced Tuesday. The tandem has won four of the last five BIG EAST doubles accolades, with the Blue Demons holding six honors as a team.
The ITA 67th-ranked duo defeated the Golden Eagles' Tiera Jarmond and Andie Weise, 6-1, on court one during Friday's match. The victory secured the doubles point for the Blue Demons en route to a 7-0 sweep. In a conference clash with Butler on Saturday, Goncharov and Smith won 6-2 over Chase Metcalf and Brooke Arington to claim the team's ninth doubles point in the last 10 matches. Smith notched her 50th career doubles triumph in the match. The Scarlet and Blue dropped only one set on the afternoon, beating the Bulldogs 7-0.

DePaul is back in action on Friday, March 21, and Saturday, March 22 at XS Tennis Village. The Scarlet and Blue battle the St. John's Red Storm to open the weekend before matching up with South Florida on Saturday.
