Wyller Wins 5000m Debut as Blue Demons Compete in Day Two At Chicagoland Championships

WHEATON, ILL. – It was another day filled with personal bests for DePaul track and field at the Chicagoland Championships on Friday. One of the day's highlights included a win in the women's 5000m by freshman Vivian Wyller, who made her debut in the event with a time of 17:25.91.
Dustin Hudak picked up DePaul's other event win of the day, securing first place in the men's 1500m while crushing a personal best with a time of 3:52.82. Mohamed Abdullahi also picked up a personal-best in the event, finishing in fifth with a time of 3:57.45.
The day kicked off with a pair of Blue Demon hurdlers qualifying to tomorrows finals in their respective events. Leandria Elam ran a 14.87 to finish second through Friday's preliminary heats in the women's 100-meter hurdles. Ryan Usher ran a 15.79 to qualify in fifth to Saturday's finals in the men's 110-meter hurdles.
William Previdi came in second in the men's 3000-meter steeplechase, putting up a time of 9:30.73. Isabella Orozco secured a third-place finish in the women's 1500m with a time of 4:34.51 as teammate, Madison Volz, came in fourth with a time of 4:41.06.
In addition to Wyller, three other Blue Demons made their collegiate debuts in the women's 5000m. Sara Cordova came in 16th with a time of 19:09.83, followed by Grace Havern in 18th with a time of 19:13.48 and Gianna Sanchez in 23rd with a time of 19:34.53.
