Roth elevated after successful first season at DePaul
CHICAGO – DePaul women's soccer head coach Michele O'Brien has promoted Brendan Roth to Associate Head Coach, the team announced Thursday morning. Roth, who served as an assistant coach last season, helped guide the Blue Demons to their best finish in nearly a decade.
"Brendan has made a tremendous impact since joining our staff ten months ago," said Coach O'Brien. "He consistently brings positive energy to our group and has influenced the team in meaningful ways. His on-field coaching, along with his ability to recruit and evaluate top talent, has stood out. I'm excited to name him Associate Head Coach and continue supporting him in his coaching journey."
Roth joined the Blue Demons in July 2024 and played a key role in the team's run to the BIG EAST semifinals, their first appearance since 2016. Three players earned All-BIG EAST Third Team honors under his guidance, while Elena Milam and Briley Hill were selected to the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team.
"I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to step into the role of Associate Head Coach," said Coach Roth. "I want to thank our administration and Coach O'Brien for their trust and support throughout my time here. I'm excited to continue to grow with this team and help push the program to new heights."
Before arriving at DePaul, Roth served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Loyola Chicago, where he helped lead the Ramblers to a 7-7-4 campaign in 2023. Prior to his time at Loyola, Roth was the director of operations with Notre Dame women's soccer, contributing to back-to-back top-four ACC finishes and NCAA Elite Eight and Sweet Sixteen appearances.
Roth also held multiple coaching roles at his alma mater, Valparaiso University, from 2012-2016 and again from 2017-2021, working with both the men's and women's programs. Between those stints, he served as head men's soccer coach at Calumet College of St. Joseph.
As a player, Roth was a five-year member of the Valparaiso men's soccer team (2007-2011), appearing in over 60 matches and tallying four goals and two assists during his collegiate career.
"With this promotion, I'm excited to see Brendan continue to lead and make a strong impact on our program both on and off the field," O'Brien said.
