Junior midfielder also unanimously selected to Preseason All-BIG EAST Team
CHICAGO – DePaul's Noeh Hernandez was named BIG EAST Preseason Offensive Player of the Year and unanimously selected to the All-BIG EAST Team Tuesday morning as the league released its preseason coaches' poll and major award winners ahead of the 2025 season. Both were selected by a vote of the conference's 12 head coaches who weren't permitted to vote for their own programs. Â
In the coaches' poll, the Blue Demons were selected to finish fifth in the Midwest Division while Akron was picked the preseason champion. Georgetown was voted the favorite in the East Division.Â
Hernandez, the 2024 BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year, returns for his junior campaign after leading DePaul in almost every offensive category a season ago. The Bridgeview, Ill. native tallied eight goals and nine assists as a sophomore. His 25 points ranked second among all players in the conference.Â
He led DePaul to its best offensive season in nearly three decades with goal involvement in 17 of the team's 32 goals in 2024. Hernandez notched a point in 11 of his 17 appearances and eight of those performances were multi-point outings. He was DePaul's first major award winner since Brian Visser earned BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year in 2007.
The Blue Demons open the 2025 season on Thursday, Aug. 21 when Purdue Fort Wayne visits Wish Field. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. with coverage carried on ESPN+.Â
