Morgan Stewart and Eva Hurrle Earn First BIG EAST Honors

Stewart named Freshman of the Week after logging 52 kills
CHICAGO – DePaul student-athletes Morgan Stewart and Eva Hurrle were recognized in the first round of 2025 BIG EAST volleyball weekly awards, as announced by the conference Tuesday afternoon.
Stewart was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week after pacing the DePaul offense with double-digit kills in all three matches of the Western Michigan Tournament, notching 22 kills, 15 digs and five blocks in the squad's reverse sweep of Oakland. The outside hitter also tallied 19 kills and 12 digs in a four-set victory over Western Michigan, her second-consecutive double-double and match with 20 or more points.
After one weekend of play, Stewart is the only freshman in the conference to rank inside the top ten in both points and kills, second in each category behind only Natalie Ring of Marquette.
Hurrle was tabbed to the BIG EAST Honor Roll for her defensive efforts, registering nine digs in the loss to Illinois State before exploding for 28 digs against the Golden Grizzlies and 23 digs against the Broncos.
60 total digs (5.00/set) for the freshman libero topped the conference after opening weekend and also propelled DePaul to first in the league as a team, with 16.50 digs per set.
