Mohamed Abdullahi Named BIG EAST Athlete of the Week

Sophomore runner earns first league honor of career
CHICAGO – DePaul cross country's Mohamed Abdullahi was named BIG EAST Male Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon. This marks the first weekly award of Abdullahi's collegiate career.
Abdullahi set a new personal-best time of 24:46.4 for eight kilometers at the National Catholic Championship in South Bend, Ind. over the weekend. He placed 14th overall in a field of more than 120 runners, leading the Blue Demons to a fourth-place team finish.
The sophomore trimmed more than a full minute off his previous best, capping a strong team performance that also saw three additional Blue Demons post personal records.
