Blue Demons two strokes out of lead heading into final round
HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – It was a historic day for DePaul men's golf Sunday at the BIG EAST Golf Championships, as the Blue Demons sit in second place entering Monday's final round. The Blue Demons surged in the second round with a 282 (-6) – the program's best round of 18 in a conference tournament.
The Blue Demons sit nine under par through two rounds, two strokes behind leader #70 Marquette at 11-under. DePaul will be paired with the Golden Eagles and third-place Xavier in Monday's final group, teeing off at 8:25 a.m. CT.
Rohan Gopaldas and Dominic Lucchesi are tied for fifth individually at 140 (-4), both two strokes off the lead. Billy Gneiser turned in a career round Sunday, firing a personal-best 68 (-4) to help power DePaul's historic team performance.
Matthew Rastogi sits in a tie for 30th at 147 (+3), followed by North Chery in a tie for 43rd at 149 (+5).
The Blue Demons are seeking their first conference championship in program history. DePaul's best BIG EAST finish was a runner-up showing in 2015 and 2019. Artemiy Yalovenko was the program's most recent top-five individual finisher, placing third in 2024. DePaul is also seeking its first conference tournament under par.
