Trio earns first All-District accolades by a DePaul golfer since 2016
CHICAGO – A trio of DePaul golfers, Rohan Gopaldas, Dominic Lucchesi and Matthew Rastogi, has earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors, as announced by the organization this week. They are the first Blue Demon golfers to earn the honor through the At-Large program since Freddy Thomas in 2016 and just the third, fourth and fifth honorees in program history.
Gopaldas capped off a strong sophomore season with a ninth-place individual finish at the BIG EAST Championships after carding a season-best 212 (-4). His single-season stroke average of 74.27 ranks among the top 25 in program history, while the sophomore also sits 10th in the record book with 10 career rounds under par. Gopaldas is a standout student in the classroom with a grade-point average above 3.8 as a finance major in DePaul's Driehaus College of Business.
Lucchesi continued his strong play this season with another national ranking after finishing in the top 20 at the BIG EAST Championships for the second consecutive year. He placed second overall at the Hawkeye Invitational with a program-best 207 (-9) and holds the top three individual rounds of his career in program history. Lucchesi is a finance major in DePaul's Driehaus College of Business.
Rastogi peaked at the end of the season, showcasing his development and hard work with a 222 (+6) at the BIG EAST Championships, helping DePaul post a program-best score at the event. He appeared in five tournaments for the Blue Demons after playing his freshman season at Eastern Michigan. Rastogi is pursuing a degree in finance with a minor in business economics and boasts a near-perfect grade-point average.
