DePaul sets fall slate Tuesday morning
CHICAGO – DePaul cross country has announced its 2026 competition schedule on Tuesday morning, featuring four regular-season meets across Illinois and Indiana before postseason competition begins in late October.
Â
"Our 2026 schedule reflects the needs of a young roster while also providing new opportunities for our veteran student-athletes," said head coach Geoff Wayton. "The season gives us the chance to compete on familiar courses while also returning to the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course for the first time since 2021. Every meet is designed to prepare us for the BIG EAST and NCAA Regional Championships."
Â
The Blue Demons return to several familiar stops from recent seasons, adding a trip to one of the nation's premier cross country venues.Â
DePaul opens the season Sept. 4 at the Huskie Opener in DeKalb, Ill. Hosted by Northern Illinois, the meet marks the third consecutive season the Blue Demons will compete at the North 40 Championship Cross Country Course before returning to the National Catholic Championships at Burke Golf Course in South Bend, Ind., on Sept. 18.
Â
The Blue Demons remain close to home the following week, traveling to the Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational on Sept. 25. Hosted at Sydney Marovitz Golf Course along Chicago's lakefront, the meet serves as DePaul's final regular-season competition before a three-week break.
Â
Following the extended layoff, DePaul heads to Terre Haute, Ind., for the Under Armour Pre-National Invitational on Oct. 16. The meet marks the Blue Demons' first appearance at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course since 2021 and provides an opportunity to compete on one of collegiate cross country's most recognizable championship venues.Â
Â
Postseason competition begins Oct. 30 at the BIG EAST Championships in Richmond, Va. DePaul concludes its season at the NCAA Division I Midwest Regional Championships on Nov. 13, in Ames, Iowa, with a chance to qualify for the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
