Matt Brothers Signs Contract Extension Through 2030

Three-time BIG EAST Champion to continue leading DePaul men’s tennis
CHICAGO – DePaul men's tennis head coach Matt Brothers has signed a contract extension through the 2030 season, Senior Vice President and Director of Athletics DeWayne Peevy announced on Monday afternoon.
Over the last six seasons, Brothers has led the Blue Demons through the most successful stretch in program history. During that span, DePaul captured three conference titles in four years, advanced to three NCAA Tournaments and reached four BIG EAST Championship matches while establishing itself as one of the BIG EAST's top programs.
The 2026 season added another chapter to Brothers' impressive tenure. He surpassed 230 career victories while leading the Blue Demons to a perfect 6-0 BIG EAST regular-season record and a return to the BIG EAST Championship match. DePaul also earned its first ranked victory in more than a decade with a 4-1 win over No. 62 Cal Poly before completing its largest comeback since 2022 over Coastal Carolina.
The success continued in 2025 as DePaul returned to the ITA national rankings for the first time since 2015. Andy Hadziabdic became the program's fifth BIG EAST Freshman of the Year, giving the Blue Demons the most recipients of the award since its inception. In 2024, Brothers guided DePaul to its third conference title and NCAA Tournament appearance, with Matteo Iaquinto earning BIG EAST Tournament Most Outstanding Player honors after clinching the championship.
Since leading DePaul to its first league title in 2021, Brothers has coached three BIG EAST Players of the Year, five BIG EAST Freshmen of the Year, three BIG EAST Tournament Most Outstanding Players and 39 All-BIG EAST selections, including 17 First Team honorees. Brothers and his staff have also been named BIG EAST Coaching Staff of the Year in 2021, 2022 and 2024.
Brothers' impact has extended beyond competition. He helped secure DePaul's successful bid to host the ITA Midwest Regional for the first time in program history. Under his leadership, the Blue Demons earned the ITA Team Academic Award in 15-straight seasons, while 84 student-athletes have received BIG EAST All-Academic Team recognition.
Before arriving at DePaul in 2007, Brothers spent five seasons as an assistant coach at Iowa, helping the Hawkeyes achieve both team and individual national rankings. A former standout player at Marquette and Wisconsin-Green Bay, Brothers competed professionally throughout the United States and Europe before beginning his collegiate coaching career.
