Men’s Tennis Welcomes Three Newcomers to Lincoln Park

Germano Diehl Setti, Alex Haage, Valter Larsson join the Blue Demons
CHICAGO – On Thursday afternoon, DePaul men's tennis head coach Matt Brothers officially announced the addition of three newcomers to the 2026-27 Blue Demons roster. Graduate transfer Germano Diehl Setti and freshmen Alex Haage and Valter Larsson joined the team on campus this week as the new academic year gets underway.
Diehl Setti, a graduate transfer from Midwestern State (Texas), arrives in Lincoln Park after a decorated four-year career with the Mustangs. He posted an 86-52 career singles record and a 43-25 doubles mark, reaching a national ranking as high as No. 7 in singles and No. 13 in doubles in NCAA Division II. In his senior season, he went 13-5 at No. 1 singles and 18-2 at No. 2 doubles, finishing ranked No. 22 nationally in singles and No. 28 in doubles, and advanced to the ITA Cup quarterfinals in singles. Diehl Setti was also a standout in the classroom, earning First Team CSC Academic All-America honors, LSC Academic Player of the Year recognition and the Marie Morgan Award as Midwestern State's most outstanding male student-athlete. A native of Carazinho, Brazil, he is pursuing an MBA in Business Analytics and Applied Artificial Intelligence at DePaul.
Haage, a freshman from Bolanden, Germany, joins the Blue Demons after finishing his prep career as valedictorian at Privatgymnasium Mannheim. He was recognized as German Vice Champion and won multiple state titles while competing for BASF TC Ludwigshafen from 2016 to 2026. Haage plans to major in Entrepreneurship.
Larsson, a freshman from Kristianstad, Sweden, comes to DePaul after advancing to the semifinals of the Swedish U18 Boys Singles Championship and reaching the final in U18 doubles. He was ranked as high as No. 5 in Sweden among players born in 2007 and posted a .720 winning percentage in ITF junior competition. Larsson plans to major in Finance.
