The Student-Athlete Experience
A student whose enrollment was solicited by a member of the athletics staff or other representative of athletics interests with a view toward the student's ultimate participation in the intercollegiate athletics program. Any other student becomes a student-athlete only when the student reports for an intercollegiate squad that is under the jurisdiction of the athletics department.
Student-Athlete Assistance Fund
It is a NCAA fund intended to provide direct benefits to student-athletes or their families as determined by conference offices. As a guiding principle, the fund shall be used to assist student-athletes in meeting financial needs that arise in conjunction with participation in intercollegiate athletics, enrollment in an academic curriculum, or that recognize academic achievement. At DePaul, the Student-Athlete Assistance Fund is also used for assisting student-athletes with costs associated with pursuing post-graduate education. For more information, contact the DePaul Compliance Office.
What are the rules regarding employment?
Compensation may be paid to a student-athlete only for work actually performed and at a rate commensurate with the going rate in that locality for similar services.
