
DePaul Sports Medicine has developed an extensive health care model designed to provide comprehensive care to Blue Demon student-athletes. The goal of this program is provide DePaul student-athletes state-of-the-art medical care. DePaul Sports Medicine is led by Senior Associate Athletics Director for Sports Medicine, Sue Wash, who in collaboration with head team physicians, Dr. Kathy Weber and Dr. Julie Bruene, direct an exceptionally talented medical staff of seven certified athletic trainers and two physical therapists. This staff works in conjunction with our nationally recognized physician group - including team physicians to the Chicago Bulls and Chicago White Sox - and prominent consultants to prevent, treat and rehabilitate injuries to Blue Demon student-athletes.
Experts in orthopedic surgery, sports medicine, physical medicine, sports psychology, opthamology, podiatry and sports nutrition are available to all DePaul student-athletes. Blue Demons have access to many outstanding tools that are incorporated into a first-rate rehabilitation program, including movement analysis, hydrotherapy, individualized rehabilitation and sport-specific retraining.
The mission of DePaul Sports Medicine is to provide Blue Demon student-athletes cutting edge medical care, utilizing the best healthcare providers in the Chicagoland area in order to ensure student-athlete welfare while maximizing athletic performance. DePaul Sports Medicine will care for the total student-athlete by providing injury prevention, treatment, rehabilitation services and athlete educational programming.
