Former DePaul standout Amarah Coleman returned to her alma mater in August of 2021 and joined the women’s basketball staff as a graduate assistant.
Coleman led the Blue Demons to the 2018 BIG EAST Conference Tournament title scoring a career-high 27 points and was honored as the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.
Her previous highlight moment came early in the regular season when DePaul and Oklahoma put on a shootout for the ages in front of a rowdy and thoroughly entertained McGrath-Phillips Arena audience.
The scoreboard read 108-108 with :03 showing on the clock when the ball landed in Coleman’s hands. She let it fly from deep on the right wing and the resulting swish unleashed pandemonium inside the Sullivan Athletic Center.
Coleman scored her 1,000th career point earlier that season against Georgetown and pulled down a career-high 12 rebounds at Providence. Earlier in her senior year, she handed out a career-best seven assists against FGCU.
In April of her senior year, Coleman was selected in the third round of the WNBA Draft, No. 28 overall.
After graduating from DePaul, she played overseas in Spain, Australia, Greece and Iceland. She worked with a non-for-profit organization called ABC Pilsen as a coach/mentor.
Coleman is currently working towards a Master’s degree in Sports, Fitness, and Recreational Leadership with a goal of one day becoming a collegiate coach.
