Erica Hanrahan joined the DePaul softball staff as assistant coach in July 2026, working primarily with the Blue Demons' pitching staff. She brings more than two decades of coaching experience at the collegiate, high school and club levels, along with a standout playing career of her own.
Hanrahan spent 12 seasons (2012-2024) as head coach at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, building the program into one of the top teams in NCAA Division III softball. Under her direction, DePauw won eight regular season conference titles and seven conference tournament championships across 11 seasons of competition, while advancing to the NCAA tournament nine times. Her teams reached the D3 National Championship on two occasions, finishing fifth in 2015 and third in 2021. Hanrahan was named Conference Coaching Staff of the Year four times and earned Regional Coaching Staff honors in both 2015 and 2021. She finished her tenure at DePauw with a 329-184 overall record, and her 2021 squad tied the program's all-time single-season win record at 40-5 while spending three weeks ranked No. 1 nationally.
Hanrahan's staffs produced five All-Americans, including first-team All-American pitcher Cami Henry, along with two Academic All-Americans and numerous All-Region and All-Conference honorees. She served on the NFCA Division III Head Coaches Committee, the NFCA Top 25 Committee and the NCAA Regional Advisory Committee.
Prior to DePauw, Hanrahan spent the 2011-12 season as the top assistant at Boston College, overseeing the pitching staff and helping guide the Eagles to their best start in 11 years. She also spent 10 years (2001-2011) as head varsity softball coach at Elmwood Park High School, winning two sectional and six regional championships, and founded and led the Lady Tigers travel softball organization.
From 2024-2025, Hanrahan served as lead instructor at Practice Pro in Chicago, where she developed pitching curriculum for elite athletes, launched a recruiting-focused cohort for players in grades 8-11, and created instructional programming for catchers and coaches across multiple disciplines. She also worked as an admission counselor at DePauw University from 2024-2025.
A standout pitcher at Saint Peter's College, Hanrahan helped the program capture its first-ever conference title in 2000 and still holds spots on multiple all-time pitching leaderboards. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in secondary education, graduating Summa Cum Laude, and later returned to Saint Peter's to complete a Master of Education in Reading.
