Gene Stump

Gene Stump played for DePaul men's basketball from 1943-47 where he was a part of some of Ray Meyer's first teams at DePaul. Stump tallied 1,071 career points, becoming the second player in program history to eclipse 1,000 career points. He led the Blue Demons to the 1945 NIT Championship and had a 78-21 record during his career at DePaul. He was the second-leading scorer in two of his seasons, behind only George Mikan.Â
Following his time at DePaul, Stump was drafted by the Boston Celtics where he would play two seasons before finishing his career with stints for the Minneapolis Lakers and the Waterloo Hawks.Â
