DePaul and Loyola Set for Sunday Showdown

CHICAGO – DePaul men's soccer closes out the month of August with a short trip north to renew its series with Loyola Chicago on Aug. 30. Kickoff from Loyola Soccer Park is set for 6 p.m., with coverage carried on ESPN+.

Demon Doings
DePaul enters the matchup 1-1-1 on the season, coming off a 3-1 win over Western Illinois on Thursday at Wish Field. Senior midfielder Noeh Hernandez scored twice and Mason Kutch added a goal and an assist as seven different Blue Demons factored into the scoring. It was Hernandez's third multi-goal game of his career as he moved into 11th on DePaul's all-time points list. Graduate goalkeeper Chance Johnson picked up the win in net, making three saves in his first start for the scarlet and blue.

Hernandez and Kutch have been DePaul's offensive leaders through the first three matches, each totaling a team-best five points on the season. Junior forward Daniel Hickiewicz has provided a team-high two assists as the Blue Demons rank fifth nationally with 10 total assists.

Sunday's match against Loyola is the first of three contests this week against Chicago-area teams, as the Blue Demons will also meet UIC (Sept. 3) and Chicago State (Sept. 6).

Scouting Loyola
The Ramblers are 2-0-1 through the first week of the 2026 campaign, including victories over Green Bay and Northern Illinois in addition to a 1-1 draw with Milwaukee last time out. Loyola's offensive attack has featured six different goal scorers on six goals tallied across the first three matches. Head coach Kevin Robson, in his first season leading the program, welcomes back 13 letterwinners from a season ago while introducing 13 newcomers into the fold. Senior midfielder Jack McFeely headlines the returners after totaling nine points in 2025.

Series Stuff
Loyola holds a 22-14-6 edge in the storied history between the two programs, but the Blue Demons have earned victories in the last two meetings, including a decisive 3-1 win at Hoyne Field in 2024. A season ago, DePaul netted a pair of first-half goals to pick up a 2-1 win at Wish Field. Hernandez scored what ended up being the game-winner in the 22nd minute.
