Rev. Tom Grace, C.M.

A native Chicagoan, Reverend Tom Grace C.M. was a Vincentian priest who intermittently held several positions at DePaul from the late 1960s into the early 2000s. Fr. Grace played an integral role in hiring non-clerics and women as university campus minsters. He also developed many programs to advance staff professional development. Additionally, Fr. Grace was an advocate for gay and lesbian student organization, working to help them seek university recognition.
Fr. Grace served as team chaplain to the women’s basketball team from 1980-88, introducing an optional 30-minute Mass before games; he always spoke of winning, playing without injury and his pride in the students playing for DePaul. Fr. Grace was also instrumental in promoting the development of the Vincentian Values, particularly special attention to the poor and marginalized. At the 2004 Hall of Fame induction, Fr. Grace received the Robert Hamilton Special Service Award for his help in the advancement of the DePaul community.
