"Needless to say, we are excited about Andre being certified to play because he is an outstanding young man who has worked extremely hard to get to this point," DePaul coach Pat Kennedy said. "While Andre is a very gifted player who we hope will help our program accomplish many great things in the near future, he is also a tremendous person who will be an outstanding representative of DePaul University both on and off the court."
"Above all I want to thank everyone who has supported me to this point in my career. My family, everyone at St. Sabina Grammar School and Leo High School," Brown said. "Now I am very excited to be a part of such a prestigious program like DePaul and I hope to have a great career in a Blue Demon uniform."
Brown is a 6-9 forward who was a McDonald's All-American last season after completing a stellar career at Chicago's Leo High School. He averaged 23 points and 13 rebounds per game during his senior campaign. He also scored 20 points while grabbing 14 boards in the McDonald's game.
DePaul is coming off a season which it was 21-12 and reached the NCAA Tournament for first time in eight years.
