Volleyball Gets Key C-USA Victory

CHICAGO - DePaul had three players with double figure kills and setter Kara Jakusz dished out 61 assists as the Blue Demons posted a 3-1 (15-9, 15-10, 12-15, 15-8) win over Tulane in a key Conference USA matchup on Friday at the DePaul Athletic Center.
The win moved the Blue Demons to 18-7 overall and 8-3 in C-USA while the Green Wave fell to 14-9, 6-5.
"This was a nice win," DePaul head coach Dawn Dockstader said. "It's always big when you can beat a team who is close to you in the league standings and we got the job done tonight."
The Blue Demons were led by Stephanie Bishop who posted 16 kills and 13 digs while Meg Griffin added 15 kills and 10 digs. Christa Dirr recorded 13 kills and 11 digs.
Jakusz added to her 61 assists with a team-high 18 digs. Melissa Nordine chipped in with 15 digs and Mary Anne Flanigan added 12.
Tulane was led by Kim Sentmore's 31 kills and 14 digs.
The Blue Demons will be in action again on Saturday when they host Southern Mississippi in a C-USA tilt at the Athletic Center begining at 7:00 p.m. Tulane is at Marquette on Saturday.
