Volleyball opens C-USA tournament with UAB

Chicago - With the conclusion of the regular season, DePaul earned the fifth seed in the 2000 Healthy Choice Conference USA Tournament. The Blue Demons (20-11, 10-6 C-USA) will face 12th seeded UAB (6-23, 0-16 C-USA) Thursday at 3 p.m.

The pair played early in the regular season with the Blue Demons winning on the road in three games. Katie Engel led the Blue Demons with 13 kills and nine digs and setter Kara Jakusz tallied her first career triple double with 10 kills, 39 assists and 15 digs in the win. UAB was paced by Dina Katsoulis' 10 kills and seven digs.

The winner of the match will advance to the second round and face Houston, who is the fourth seed. That match is scheduled for Friday at 3 p.m.
