ANCHORAGE (Nov. 25) - Imari Sawyer and Bobby Simmons each posted double- doubles to help 21st-ranked DePaul beat the Alaska Anchorage men's basketball team 93-76 in the fourth-place game of the Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout today at Sullivan Arena.
Ed Kirk scored a game-high 21 points for UAA (2-2) to go along with his seven assists and four steals. Simmons had 15 points and 13 rebounds for DePaul (3-1), while Sawyer had 19 points and 11 assists. Sawyer's 30 assists broke the Shootout record, previously held by Stanford's Brevin Knight, who had 29 in 1996.
Nelson Williams made eight of 12 shots for a career-high 16 points for the Seawolves, and Glen Newbold had a season-high 10 points. Greg Freeman scored only six points for UAA, snapping his string of 16 straight games scoring in double figures.
