CHICAGO - The Loyola Ramblers became DePaul's second straight victim on Wednesday night as the Blue Demons won, 2-0, at Loyola Soccer Park. The win was the second straight for DePaul as goalkeeper Jeff Klitzke notched his first shutout of the season.
Early in the match, Klitzke fended off two Loyola scoring opportunities as the Ramblers outshot DePaul 7-1 and had the only two corners of the period.
Ed Kiefer scored the game's first goal in the 66th minute to give DePaul the 1-0 advantage. Kiefer beat oncoming Rambler keeper Joseph Trimberger and headed it past him for his second score of the season.
With Loyola pressing to tie the match, freshman Luke Rojo sealed the win for DePaul with his first collegiate goal at 89:52.
Klitzke finished the match with six saves while the Blue Demons were outshot, 12-5. With the win, DePaul improves to 2-7-1 overall and hosts eighth-ranked UAB this Saturday. Kickoff is set for noon at Wish Field.
