Volleyball Falls to Louisville 3-0

CHICAGO -- DePaul volleyball fell to Louisville 30-24, 30-24, 30-28 at the Athletic Center on Senior Night. The Blue Demons fall to 9-4 in Conference USA (18-6 overall) while the Cardinals improve to 11-3 in conference play (17-5 overall).
"Louisville just had an emothional edge tonight," said head coach Dawn Dockstader. "Even with a 2-0 lead they were fired up and ready to go for game three. They played with a lot of fire tonight."
The Blue Demons jumped out to a 14-12 lead in game one before Louisville went on a 6-0 run to take command of the game. DePaul never recovered and the Cardinals won the game 30-24.
After dropping the second game by the same 30-24 score, Louisville took control of the third game taking a 13-8 lead. The Blue Demons scored six of the next eight points to cut the lead to 15-14, but the Cardinals responded with a 4-0 run and never looked back. Louisville never trailed in game three and finished off the match with a 30-28 victory.
Senior Christa Dirr finished with eight kills and a .444 hitting percentage for the Blue Demons while senior Melissa Nordine tallied 11 kills, eight digs and a .364 hitting percentage.
Junior Sonja Percan was unstoppable for the Cardinals finishing the night with a match-high 23 kills and a .375 hitting percentage. Sophomore Anastasia Zaitseva finished with 18 kills and a .469 hitting percentage while senior Jing Ding distributed 54 assists.
Dockstader said, "We have to get it together for East Carolina on Sunday. We have three games remaining and have to step up."
The Blue Demons travel to East Carolina to face the Pirates at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.
